Balby Flyover is the name for the main feature at a gyratory to the west of Doncaster.
It was built on the site of a five-way junction between Balby Road, Cleveland Street, Roberts Road, St Swithin's Terrace and Flaw Street. This junction straddled the railway line on Balby Road Bridge.
In the 1960s, the terraces to the east of here were demolished. Flaw Street and Arbitration Street were used to create a roundabout, which met the new Cleveland Street dual carriageway.
A few years later, Balby Road was turned into a dual carriageway, and nearby Green Dyke Lane was replaced by the Carr House Road dual carriageway. This involved the creation of a much larger southbound route, which involved a new railway bridge. This created space for the new flyover.
A pub on Kelham Street survived all the disruption, and stood right next to the new junction, but later closed.
