The Bell Common Tunnel is cut and cover tunnel which takes the M25 motorway under Bell Common in Epping Forest. The tunnel is situated between junctions 26 and 27 of the motorway and is of similar construction to the Holmesdale Tunnel and Hatfield Tunnel.
The tunnel opened in January 1984 (at the same time as the Holmesdale Tunnel). A major refurbishment scheme occurred in 2009.
Proposed Interchange
The proposal to site an interchange here was abandoned following Public Enquiry decisions (per the Winter 1977/78 RAC World magazine).
