Bogside Roundabout is the junction of the A73 and the A721 between Newmains and Carluke. The A73 is dualled through the junction, with a fairly wide central reservation, leading to an oval shaped island, almost within the confines of the dual carriageway. The A721 comes in from the west, gaining a second turning lane on the approach, and then multiplexes south with the A73 into Carluke. A fourth arm is a very minor road, Hyndhsaw Road, which almost branches off the southern exit for the A73 and heads east past some houses. An unusual feature is what appears to be a second exit for the southern A73. This branches off after the first to connect to the northbound carriageway, presumably having been installed as part of a contraflow during roadworks. While it is barried on the A73 side, to prevent traffic turning the wrong way onto the roundabout, there is no barrier on the roundabout, meaning traffic can drive into this tiny 'dead end'.
