Brookside Interchange is junction 33A of the A55.
The number is spread across two locations that arose as separate junctions. The eastern junction originally had a gap in the central reservation allowing all movements to and from local minor roads despite the absence of any bridge here. The gap was one of a number on the A55 later closed for safety, leaving a pure LILO.
The western junction was created when Northop was bypassed to the north, leaving a section of the previous A55 as a westbound exit slip. This section had already been dualled, and part of the former eastbound carriageway still remains for local access.
