Brynich roundabout marks the eastern end of the Brecon Bypass / Ffordd Osgoi Aberhonddu section of the A40. The junction is named after the nearby Brynich Brook that is crossed, immediately before it flows into the Usk, by the A40 some 350 m ESE of the roundabout.
Arriving here along the bypass from the west, the onward choice is between the northbound A470 Builth Wells road (which, if you ignore the TOTSO 9.5 km further on, will become the A438 heading for Hereford) and the A40 continuing eastwards towards Abergavenny. Alternatively, you can turn left to head into the town of Brecon, which you have just bypassed, via the original route of the A40 which is now numbered B4601.
