This article is about the Class III road numbered C1004 maintained by Highland Council.

The C1004 runs almost due east from Tain to Tarrel, a couple of miles south of Portmahomack. Bizarrely, however, it does not start as might be expected on the B9174 in Tain, but instead the first hundred metres or so is numbered as the C1209, the number changing without any obvious reason. The road then runs east, across a flat coastal landscape, skirting the edge of an old airfield, and meeting the B9165 to the south of Portmahomack.
