The C101 follows the old line of the A970 along North Road heading north out of Lerwick. It starts as a continuation of North Road, where the A970 turns right onto Holmsgarth Road, and follows north road through to the junction with Gremista Brae. At this point, the route becomes a little uncertain from the information given in the council list, but it appears that there is a short spur along Gremista Brae to meet the A970, whilst the mainline follows Ladies Drive over the hill and out of the urban area, to also meet the A970.
