The C1073 forms an alternative route from the A99 to the harbour in Wick. Considering the multiplicity of such routes as classified roads in the past, it is perhaps a surprise to learn that this route doesn't appear to have ever been part of an A or B road. It starts on the A99 in the southern part of the town and runs east at first along Northcote Street. A sharp left turn takes it onto MacRae Street, and then after a double TOTSO dogleg along Grant Street, it follows MacArthur Street and Harbour Terrace down to the B9159 at the harbour.
