Route outline (key)
C10 Egham - Chobham
This article is about The Class III road numbered C10 maintained by Surrey Council .
For Other roads numbered C10 , see C10.

The C10 is a Classified Unnumbered Road, almost entirely of S2 specification, connecting the B388 in Egham town centre with the B383 in Chobham.

Route

The route begins as Station Road at a traffic light-controlled T junction on the B388, travelling towards Egham station with a speed limit of 30mph, before crossing over the London Waterloo to Reading line by means of the station's level crossing, where it becomes Manorcrofts Road. After the station, there are houses to the right and a park to the left. Shortly after the station, it meets Wesley Drive (a road from a housing estate and a school) at a small roundabout, continuing to the right. At the junction with the unclassified roads Whitehall Lane and Braywood Avenue, the road curves sharply to the left and the speed limit then increases to 40mph as the road is completely straight.

500 yards later, a roundabout with the B3376 is reached, and the C10 continues straight, becoming Stroude Road. After a couple of curves and passing Great Fosters Hotel, the speed limit drops back to 30mph as the road enters a residential area, with cars often parked at either side of the road. The road then climbs steeply uphill through a brick wall-lined cutting, to a traffic light controlled crossroads with the B389, near Virginia Water station. The C10 becomes Trumps Green Road and then falls to go beneath two railway bridges, the first of which carries the operational Virginia Water to Weybridge railway line, the other once carried a curve of track to allow trains to run directly from Chertsey towards Sunningdale, but this closed in the 1960s.

After the two railway bridges, the road passes over a narrow (but still S2) brick bridge which carries the road over the River Bourne. The road then narrows briefly to S1 to pass under the bridge carrying the London Waterloo to Reading railway line, under which traffic from Chobham has priority. The road then passes the Trumps Green parade of shops, before turning slightly to climb a hill, At the top of which, the speed limit increases back to 40mph, before the road falls past multiple side streets, then slowly climbs again towards Longcross. The road becomes national speed limit somewhere around this point, but the exact location of the change is unclear.

Approaching Longcross, a private drive turns off to the right as the road bends sharply left to cross the London Waterloo to Reading line again. The road then immediately curves to the right, becoming Chobham Lane at the junction with Kitsmead Lane. From here the road runs parallel to the M3. Eventually, a new roundabout is reached, which gives access to Longcross Studios and the new housing estate. The C10 continues to the next roundabout, at which the C10 turns left to multiplex briefly with the B386 (Longcross Road), to cross the M3. Immediately after this bridge, the C10 turns off to the right, onto Staple Hill Road, the last name change.

The road after this turning is a relatively uninspiring, national speed limit S2 road, curving gently in places and passing the car park at Staple Hill. The road then continues for around a mile before falling gently towards the B383, and terminating at an unsignalled, angled T junction.
