The C112n starts on the A76 at Newbridge, on the northern fringe of Dumfries, and follows the Cluden then Cairn Waters upstream. The route includes two spurs, which cross the river at Drumpark Bridge and Stepford Bridge, and then, just before reaching its end, it turns away from the Cairn Water, to briefly follow the Glenesslin Burn, before crossing it at Milton. The route then quickly comes to an end on the C37n.
