The C1159 starts on the A96 a short distance to the east of Nairn Bridge in Nairn. It runs east along Lochloy Road, initially along the southern edge of the towns Golf Course, and then as the town disappears behind, it soon picks up the southern fringe of the vast Culbin Forest which extends to the shore. The route continues as far as the council boundary near Bankhead.
