The C138B is the road to the spectacular and world-famous little fishing village at Pennan. World Famous because it had a starring role in the film 'Local Hero', where the phone box opposite the Pennan Inn (relocated slightly for filming) played a pivotal role in the film. But back to the road! It starts above the village on the B9031, and drops steeply down the steep green cliffs. At first, only the natural harbour is in view, with a couple of whitewashed roadside houses, then as the hill steepens and the road switchbacks around some bends, the row of houses along the shore appear, and moments later the route comes to an end above the rocky beach. The village street extends to left and right, with parking at the far end to the left.
