The C144 is an urban class III road in Baldock, Hertfordshire.
It is a curious use of a classified number; the road starts at the B656 Hitchin Street, and is inaccessible to motor vehicles at this point. The one-way unclassified route "Sun Street" (U325) joins immediately after the bollards, allowing motor vehicles to access from the south. The road then heads in a northerly direction until it meets Icknield Way (also unclassified as U297).
