The C149 is a route whose usefulness has been almost completely overtaken by the growth of nearby East Kilbride. It starts to the east of Dykehead on Wellsquarry Road, now a dead-end, and runs west into Kittochside, where it meets the C148, then turns north west to reach the council boundary, with the road continuing in to Carmunnock.
