The C16 starts on the A94 at the western end of the Glamis Bypass and heads west, turning south west as it skirts along the bottom of the Sidlaw Hills on its way to Newtyle. It follows North Street, then Coupar Angus Road through the village, crossing the B954, before continuing to the council boundary near Keillor. The road itself continues towards Coupar Angus.
