The C17 as Chattenden Lane, in Chattenden

The C17 starts at a LILO junction with the A228 before entering the village of Chattenden. The military theme is present almost immediately, as Kitchener Road diverges to the left. The road heads north past some houses which back onto the now disused site of the Chattenden barracks. The C17 continues north, becoming Lodge Hill Lane, before the road crosses Lochat Road. From here, the road is surrounded by ex-military facilities, the bunkers clearly visible from the air and the road flanked by barbed wire fences. The C17 ends either at the crossroads with Lochat Road, or at the barracks car park itself. Both the Chattenden and Lodge Hill facilities are ear-marked for large housing developments, so the C17 may become much busier in the future.
