The C182 is an semi-rural class III road in Hertfordshire, providing a route (along with the B1000) between Welwyn and Hertford, skirting to the north of Welwyn Garden City. At the western end, it starts at a roundabout with the A1000. It then passes underneath a large brick railway viaduct and several properties before heading out through woodland to meet the B1000 at a TOTSO junction.
As an attractive through route, traffic calming has existed for a number of years in an attempt to encourage drivers to take a more circuitous route through Welwyn Garden City.
