The C1 starts on the A703 at Eddleston and takes Manse Road over the Eddleston Water. It then climbs up out of the small village and heads south across the hills. After passing between the White and Black Meldons, it descends to the A72 at Meldonfoot, with a spur also meeting the A72 a little further west.
