The C1 is a lengthy route that runs south from the B741 at Straiton. At first it climbs up with the Water of Girvan, before turning up a side valley and crossing over the hills to the headwaters of the Water of Minnock. The C1 then follows this river downstream to the council boundary, the road continuing down to the A714 north of Newton Stewart.
