Route outline (key)
C1w Glenluce - Chirmorie
This article is about the Class III road numbered C1w maintained by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
For other roads numbered C1, see C1
.

The C1w is listed as starting on the A747 at Glenluce. However, whilst some old maps suggest that the A747 followed the old line of the A75 through the village, this no longer appears to be the case. The only route which appears to follow the old A75 route now is the C3w, so it is assumed that the C1w starts on the C3w. It heads north, following the Water of Luce upstream past the old abbey as far as New Luce. Here, it leaves the river behind and crosses the hill to find the Cross Water of Luce. The railway is now much closer than it has been so far, lying just across this small river. Continuing north, the road stays close to the riverbank as far as Miltonish, where it once more starts climbing, this time reaching the council boundary below Far Cairn near Chirmorie. The road itself continues to meet the A714 in Barrhill.
