The C202n is a tiny, but important link which follows Dockhead in the centre of Dumfries. It is really a part of the A781, as southbound traffic along Whitesands cannot turn left to continue along the one-way A781 and instead has to continue along the river bank using the C202n. This leads to another signalised junction, this time with the A756 immediately to the east of St Michaels Bridge over the River Nith.
