For other roads numbered C20, see C20.
The C20 starts on the A735 near the middle of Kilmaurs and heads west along Irvine Road, which passes under the railway and out of the village. The road then reaches the council boundary near Kilmaurs Mains. Beyond the B769, the road returns to East Ayrshire, at Cunninghamehead Bridge over the Annick Water, and meanders northwest to meet the council boundary again near Girgenti Farm. The council list suggests that this is the end of the route, but in fact the boundary runs along the road, albeit it is not clear which side of the road the boundary is. The road then briefly returns to East Ayrshire near Auchenharvie, without an intermediate junction, and it seems inconceivable that this section is not also part of the C20. It appears, therefore, that the C20 ends on the C6 at Auchenharvie, although this is contrary to the information in the council list.
