The C22 crosses the middle of South Walls, meeting the B9047 at either end. Its starts at the east end of The Ayre, the narrow causeway which carries the B9047 across from Hoy, and climbs up towards the summit of the island, passing slightly to the north and then gently descending to Osmondwall, where it meets the end of the B9047. There are a scattering of properties along the route, although most of the islands population live along the coast to the north, served by the B9047.
