C235 (Merthyr Tydfil)

The C235 starts off as Goat Mill Road in the east of Merthyr Tydfil, leaving the A4102 at a roundabout. The road crosses the C214 at a roundabout and continues north along Victoria Street, eventually passing underneath the A465 to reach Pant. The road continues northwards into the countryside and follows the Brecon Mountain Railway closely towards Pontsticill. Opposite Pontsticill village the road forks left and crosses over Taf Fechan before climbing up to the village where it meets the C234. A short section of the road that the C235 follows to the east of Pontsticill formerly passed briefly outside of the Merthyr Tydfil principal area and into Powys and as such was numbered by the latter as the C146. In 2009 the boundary between the two authorities was moved northwards and eastwards beyond Pontsticill Station and as a result the C235 now forms a continuous route entirely within the authority while in Powys the C146 was rendered obsolete.
