The C23L formerly ran south from the B9031 at Dubford, near the B9123 junction for Gardenstown. It skirted the edge of the Hill of Troup, before dropping down to the Bridge of Logie, which crossed the county boundary. The route is now part of the C15S which continued south to Cuminestown.
