The C23 starts at a crossroads on the A92 at Freuchie, with the B936 heading west through the village. The C23 heads east, passing under the railway and then crossing the A914 at a staggered crossroads. A steep climb round some twisty bends leads to a long straight through Drummy Wood, and then the route comes to an end on the C30 at Langdyke.
