For other roads numbered C263, see C263.
The C263 starts on the A2 in Holywood and heads east. After leaving the town, the road gradually bends round to the south until it meets the B170 on a TOTSO of the latter. Just south east of here is another TOTSO formed by a crossroads consisting of the two perpendicular directions of the B170 as well as the C262 and C263. The road continues south east and comes to a T junction at Ballybarnes. From here the road continues both west and east. Going west, the road leads to the A20 on the edge of Dundonald while to the east the road also meets the A20, at a crossroads in Newtownards. From Dundonald to Newtownards via Ballybarnes the road forms part of the original A20 which was later numbered as the C264, now defunct and entirely part of the C263.
