The C272 begins its journey by heading north west off of the B6 at Raffrey. Shortly after the starting point, the C273 branches off towards Balloo. Further along, the road crosses the C274 and the C271 as it passes by Carrickmannon Lough. The road eventually reaches Ballygowan where it ends on the C367 at a TOTSO.
