Staffordshire County Council's locally classified C272 forms a link between the edge of the Wolverhampton urban area at Pendeford with the commuter village of Coven, meeting no other classified roads between the two ends.
It starts at a light-controlled junction on the C40 Wobaston Road near to Pendeford Business Park, heading north along Lawn Lane, passing the Pendeford Hall Mobile Home Park before crossing the M54 on an overbridge with no junction. It continues to head north through rural areas before crossing the River Penk on a small bridge and entering the village of Coven. It then terminates on the C108 Brewood Road.
