The C27 starts on the A828 next to Gunns Garage in Appin, and initially runs westwards past Taychreggan and on to the shore of Loch Laich. Here there are views across to Castle Stalker, with Shuna Island and the hills of Morvern beyond.
We then turn south around a deep bay, which is just mud flats at low tide, and then climb slightly to cross behind Ardtur House and so reach Port Appin. The village is small, has just one main junction - with the Unclassified road to North Shian, and then finishes at the pier. The Pier is the slipway for the Lismore Passenger Ferry, which crosses to the B8045 at the northern end of the island. Although there is a sizeable car park at the end of the road, the verges are normally crowded with cars too.
