The C2 starts on the C1 just west of the latter's junction with the A698. The road heads north and skirts past Horncliffe on its way to a T junction with the C3 from which it TOTSOs left. Continuing north, the road crosses the River Tweed and hence reaches the Scottish border at Union Bridge. The road itself continues ahead for a short distance to the B6461 as the C99, maintained by Scottish Borders Council.
