The C32 is a road of two parts, both famous road climbs.
Fleet Moss
Fleet Moss is a hill pass renowned for being the highest paved road in Yorkshire, reaching a summit of 588 m [1929 ft], connecting Wharfedale and Wensleydale. Although the shortest route between Wharfedale's B6160 and Hawes, the recommended route for drivers is to continue along the B6160 to the A684. A narrow road with low traffic, and an epic climb to boot, this road is very popular for cyclists, although sometimes narrow enough that passing places must be used when meeting a car! When driving, meeting another car inevitably necessitates stopping.
Also of note, just under summit of Fleet Moss on the northward side, we meet a Roman Road, numbered RM73 by Margary. In modern times this is the Cam High Road, which is a gravel surfaced BOAT.
Hawes
The C32 passes the Wensleydale Creamery, then briefly multiplexes with the A684 in Hawes.
Buttertubs Pass
The Buttertubs Pass is a hill Pass which crosses south-north from Hawes in Wensleydale to Thwaite in Swaledale. Along the way, it climbs to a summit of 526 m above sea level.
