The C34 starts at the MacAuley Road Roundabout to the north of Steornabhagh (Stornoway) and heads east, curving around the northern edge of the town. Leaving the town behind, it passes the outlying housing estate at Plasterfield and then turns sharply south west to meet the A866 at Sanndabhaig (Sandwick).
