Route
The C381 starts at a roundabout with the A278. It immediately has another roundabout, where access to Gillingham Business Park is to the left. However, the C381 turns right, heading south, where, as Hempstead Road, it dips down then up Spekes Bottom. Reaching Hempstead Valley Drive, there is a TOTSO double roundabout to turn right then left, to continue as Hempstead Road. The C381 then enters the centre of Hempstead passing the Flying Saucer pub, before crossing over a roundabout. Continuing south, Hempstead Road passes a local school before eventually entering the countryside. From here, the road bends further and terminates on the C97, at a junction with the Lidsing Road and the local authority boundary.
