The C3K has a historic mainline which runs from the village of Fordoun north west to meet the B966 at Crossroads. It appears that this also includes a short spur along Station Road, into the old station at Fordoun. When the A90 was upgraded to bypass the village, the C3K also gained a much longer spur, along the old line of the A90 through Balfeith, and again terminating on the B966.
