The C403 follows St Quivox Road in Prestwick. This is the mostly former line of the B7035, before that route was cut and declassified by the construction of the Airport. It starts on the A79 Main Street and heads north east, before turning east at a junction with Caerlaverock Road (where the B7035 arrived, having used Boyd Street). Continuing east, the route runs to Indale Avenue, the onward route of the old B7035 now lost under a housing estate and golf course before the airport.
