The C408 starts on the B9099 north east of Airntully, and heads west to Bankfoot. Here, the route forms the new access to the southbound of the carriageway of the A9, built to grade separate the Bankfoot Junction. The mainline passes under the A9 and quickly meets the B867 (former route of the A9). There is a short dog-leg to the north, before the C408 resumes, this time heading south across gently rolling farmland, with some fine views to the distant hills. The tiny village of Moneydie is passed, and the B8063 crossed, and a last, gently hill is crossed before the route comes to an end on the C407 in Pitcairngreen above the River Almond.
