The C43 starts on the A68 just south of the A699 crossroads at St Boswells and heads south east. It is a good wide S2 at first, but after passing the main entrance to the Charlesfield Industrial area, it becomes narrower, albeit just about wide enough for two cars to pass. The route wiggles past a small number of farms, and after the last one, Langside, comes to an end at a sharp bend on the B6359.
