The C449 starts on the A368 near Stowey and follows Moorledge Road north west to Chew Magna. It becomes Tunbridge Road as it enters the village, and then crosses the River Chew to meet the B3130. After a short dogleg west along the B road through the centre of the village, the route resumes, heading north along Harford Square and then climbs Chew Hill out of the village to meet the C406, Limeburn Hill.
