The C449 has two start points on the A827 at Fearnan above Loch Tay. The main turning is in the middle of the village, and runs north, climbing quite steeply up to cross the low pass to reach the River Lyon. It then crosses the river at Bridge of Lyon, and quickly terminates on the C448 at Fortingall. The other start is a lengthy spur that runs north west through the village, climbing steeply up from a sharp fork at the eastern end.
