The C453 starts on the B3116, High Street, in the centre of Keynsham and winds south west through the town along Charlton Road. It then curves westwards and doglegs across Woolard Lane to meet the A37 at Hursley Hill. The C453 continues beyond, following Gibbet Lane west to meet the C449, Norton Lane near Norton Malreward.
