The C45S starts on the A947 at the staggered crossroads with the B9005 at Fyvie, and heads west. It also includes two spurs here, along the former alignment of the A947 over the old bridge. The route then passes woodland and meanders westwards as it climbs up Brown Hill, passing near the summit. After a short descent, the route follows the contours round to Gordonstown and Newbigging, and then the short distance to the B9001 beyond the village.
