The C461 starts on the A39 at the northern end of Farmborough, and heads south through the village along Timsbury Road. This then becomes Bloomfield Road as it reaches Timsbury, meeting the B3115, North Road next to the Cricket field. The C460 continues ahead, along The Avenue to cross South Road at a staggered crossroads and follow Radford Hill into the tiny village of Radford. The road then continues, winding across the hills, to Clandown, where it drops down Smallcombe Road, crossing the Fosse Way, to reach the A367 above Radstock.
