The C487 starts on the A36 and follows Bathampton Lane into the village, before winding over the pictuiresque canal bridge. It then crosses the railway and [{A46]], Batheaston Bypass on Mill Lane before crossing the River Avon on the Bathampton Toll Bridge. It is then just a short run to the C22, London Road West, which was formerly the A4, in Batheaston.
