The C533 is a Y shaped route which starts on the A2 to the south of Castlerock, heading initially south west. Soon the road abruptly turns south east to cross the Articlave River before coming to a crossroads. At the crossroads a spur heads north east to link back to the A2 in Articlave with the main portion of the route continuing south east to meet the B201 near The Pass.
