The C536 is a road of two sections which comes about as such as a result of the construction of the A29 Coleraine bypass which has severed it into an urban section and a rural section. The urban section starts on the B67 on a mini-roundabout in Coleraine and follows Lower Newmills Road to a dead end as it approaches the bypass. The rural section commences from a junction on the bypass opposite the dead end and heads south east. En route to Damhead the road encounters the C93 as the latter TOTSOs onto the former's route in a "multiplex". Oddly though, the C536 ends at the Damhead crossroads despite still sharing the road with the C93. The C93 continues on its own and takes the road on into County Antrim and eventually to Ballymoney.
