The C559 runs on a broadly NW - SE alignment from the A54 in the village of Bellaghy, opposite the terminus of the southern section of the B182. Heading north west, the road passes through the low lying countryside and eventually meets the A42 at a crossroads. Continuing north west, the road crosses over the Clady River at Drumnacanon Bridge before coming to an end on the C549 beyond.
