C567 Holywell Green - Ainley Top
This article is about the Class III road numbered C567 maintained by Calderdale Council.

The C567 is a class III road in Calderdale, West Yorkshire. It runs from Holywell Green to Ainley Top via Elland town centre.

The route begins at the junction of Station Road with the B6112 in Holywell Green, marked by the Holy Well Inn, a pub rescued from dereliction by a community group which now runs it. From here the C567 runs downhill to the Rock Inn and then, as Broad Carr Lane, steeply uphill out of the village.

As the road – now Hammerstones Leach Lane – approaches the outskirts of Elland it passes Elland Golf Club and then the well-used Brooksbank Cycle Track. The latter is a legacy of the 2014 Tour de France ‘Grand Depart’, the route of which crossed the C567 a little further on at its junction with Hammerstones Road and Blackley Road. The former of these roads leads to Overgate, Calderdale’s only hospice and a very well regarded local charity. The latter leads to the M62 at junction 24. Completing the sporting theme, on the other side of the road from the cycle track is the unofficial Elland Sledging Centre, being the hill of choice for local children to undertake said activity on the rare occasions the weather permits.

From here the C567 continues into Elland as Victoria Road and passes Brooksbank secondary school. The road then reaches a T-junction where it is necessary to turn right in order to continue along Victoria Road. The two halves of this road are actually quite different in nature, the western part running past mainly quite large Victorian housing and the eastern part past various shops, businesses and the town’s catholic church. A short detour from here down Coronation Street (yes, really) takes you to the Rex cinema, a rare surviving example of a proper old-fashioned picture house where you can still take a family of four to watch a film (with interval) for little over £20.

At the bottom of Victoria Road the C567 veers sharply to the right to become Southgate. From here you can see the Fire Station café on Elizabeth Street, which featured in the TV series Happy Valley. Next we reach the roundabout junction with the B6114 at which point the C567 bears right onto Huddersfield Road, which used to be part of the A629 prior to the construction of the Elland Bypass. From here the road runs steadily uphill past Elland "recycling centre" and the council’s highway maintenance offices, before ending as a one-way slip road onto the Huddersfield-bound A629 dual carriageway.
