This article is about the Class III road numbered C5E maintained by Moray Council.

The C5E is a route which starts and finishes in the middle of nowhere, and passes nowhere of any real consequence along the way. For most of the distance it is a a single track road, following long straights with few passing places. This, combined with the comparatively close proximity of the A96 to the south, does beg the question of why it is a C road at all.
The route starts on the A96 at Gateside, a couple of miles east of Forres, and runs north around Grange Hill to meet the B9089. This bit is fairly sensible, but the rest is described as a branch - a branch longer than the apparent 'mainline'. This starts just to the north of Grange Hill, and runs east via Coltfield, Kirkton and Kintrae to the end near East Mains Farm.
