The C628 starts on the A5 at Garvaghy and heads north, reaching the B46 in Beragh after a few kilometres. The road resumes its northward journey from the B46 opposite the B158 and soon crosses the Cloghfin River and the Camowen River. The road TOTSOs left (north west) shortly after crossing the latter. The road TOTSOs again as it reaches the B4 at Drumnakilly. The final leg of the route runs north from here linking to the A505 just outside Mountfield.
